Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICB
Families will be supported to access alternative services following a decision to cease the Bassetlaw Children’s Learning Disability Service on 31 March 2026.
The service, which is provided by Nottinghamshire Healthcare Trust, supports children and young people with moderate to severe learning disabilities. It offers behavioural, sleep, continence, and social support over a time-limited period. This limited range of services was accessed by a very small number of young people: just 49 accepted referrals between April 2023 and December 2024 which is much less than one a week.
A broader range of alternative services to meet these needs are now available for families from other providers and we have created a directory of these on the Nottinghamshire Healthcare Trust website. Bassetlaw is the only area with this service, so the changes will make this broader offer available for all areas of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
All those families who are currently in the service will continue to receive support and will be helped to transition to alternative services before the service ends on 31 March 2026.
