Patient information: Community Gynaecology Service in Nottingham City & South Notts

The Community Gynaecology Service in Nottingham City and South Nottinghamshire ended with effect from 3 August 2025 after the provider of the service, Primary Integrated Community Services (PICS) served notice on the contract.

This was not a decision taken by NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

We are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused and we are working at pace on a range of alternative arrangements for new and existing patients in the area requiring gynaecology services.

We have also started a review into community gynaecology services across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, so we can create equal and fair access to services for all our communities.

Who should I contact if my appointment has been cancelled?

You will be referred to an alternative appropriate Gynaecology service. We will be in contact to offer you a choice of clinical provider as soon as we can.

I’ve had a pessary fitting appointment cancelled, who will do the fitting?

We are working with GP practices with a view to them providing this service in the future. Under the new arrangements, patients would either have this done at their own GP practice or another one nearby. We are working to set this up right now, so please wait until you are contacted.

Who should I contact if I have any clinical concerns or any questions about my current gynae equipment / care management?

Please continue to contact PICs until further notice.

Will there be any delays in my follow up care because my PICS appointment has been cancelled?

We are working on a solution to get patients seen in the most appropriate setting for their ongoing clinical care. Please wait to be contacted with alternative arrangements.

I was waiting for my first appointment with PICS, where and when will they be referred?

This work is underway but unfortunately don’t have anything to share currently. You will be referred to an alternative appropriate Gynaecology service. We will be in contact to offer you a choice of clinical provider as soon as we can.

What is the timescale for the ICB to contract & commission a different service?

We are working quickly to establish a range of alternative arrangements for patients requiring gynaecology services. We will share more information as soon as we are able. Please wait to be contacted.

I have appointments for other medical issues – do I still attend these?

Please continue to attend any other appointments you have as normal. This issue only affects those appointments with the PICS Community Gynaecology Service.

I was referred by PICS into another NHS service. Will this be affected?

No, all referrals that have already been made will continue and you should continue to access any other services you have been referred into.
