Residents of Stapleford and surrounding neighbourhoods can benefit from an upgraded community hub following the completion of works at Stapleford Care Centre.
The £490,000 project is helping to bring more joined-up services into local communities. The new space, remodelled in lieu of an unused café area, offers a much-needed community suite that can be used for meetings, training courses and community events. The ground floor has been transformed into a real community asset providing a space for free and invaluable advice and information to support staff, patients and local residents.
Stapleford Care Centre provides a range of health and social care services in one state-of-the-art building, including two GP surgeries, children’s services, podiatry, artificial eye clinics and more. Whilst the new hub will provide additional space for the community, there will be further remodelling within the four-storey building with the first and second floors being reconfigured to provide extra space for tenants within the neighbourhood. It is also hoped this development will make Stapleford Care Centre fully utilised.
The new Stapleford Hub will be used to support the work of the local primary care network offering social prescribing, care coordinators and health and wellbeing coaches. It will host health promotion sessions, peer support groups, and drop-ins for residents who would benefit from non-clinical support such as social connection, physical activity, or help with the wider determinants of health.
Amanda Sullivan, Chief Executive, NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICB, said:“We are delighted to open the Stapleford Community Hub alongside our partners. Funding the running costs of the building, we are excited to make sure this space is being put to good use, supporting patients, staff and the wider community. The space will be available for local voluntary and community organisations to book, which aligns with our commitment to deliver health and wellbeing initiatives closer to home in the heart of the community.”
Partners involved in the project include Community Health Partnerships, Greater Nottingham LIFTCo, FES, NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care Board, Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Broxtowe Borough Council.
