Fracture Liaison Service

Closure of South Nottinghamshire Fracture Liaison Service

The Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) for South Nottinghamshire (based at East Bridgford Medical Practice) will close after 30 September 2024 and is no longer accepting referrals for new patients.

Patients who have been using this service will be reviewed for consideration of ongoing treatment, either through their GP or another route. New patients will initially be assessed by their GP who will follow local Osteoporosis guidelines. People who are assessed as needing infusions or injections will still be able to receive these, but this will be via another provider.

East Bridgford Medical Centre wrote to patients recently, advising that we are working to agree interim arrangements for patients living in South Nottinghamshire to access bone treatment, whilst the new model is being developed. As soon as the arrangements with the interim provider have been made, they will contact patients to arrange ongoing treatment. We will keep people informed about progress.

The City Fracture Liaison Service, which is delivered by Nottingham CityCare Partnership and accessed at City Hospital and Bulwell Riverside, will continue in its current form until March 2025.

A review into the provision for the whole of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire has now started and the aim is to provide equitable bone health support for all our communities across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire from April 2025. Mid Nottinghamshire and Bassetlaw do not currently have community-based fracture liaison services.
