Eligible members of the public will be able to get a COVID-19 vaccine at a pop-up clinic in Bestwood.
On Tuesday, 12 December, the public will be able to get free COVID-19 vaccinations at Bestwood Estate Community Centre from 1pm-3.30pm.
Trained NHS staff will be vaccinating eligible members of the public and answering any questions about the vaccination. Everyone who is eligible is being urged to pop down and get protected.
Julia Rosevear, COVID Vaccination Locality Manager, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for people living in Bestwood and the surrounding areas to quickly get protected ahead of the Christmas period where we know illnesses spread rapidly.
“We will be at the community centre from 1pm-3.30pm administering vaccines to everyone who is eligible, and you will not need an appointment. Our friendly team of staff will also be able to help with answering any questions or concerns on the day.
“We are encouraging people who are over 65 or at very high risk to come down as a priority. This includes people who are immunosuppressed or people who have long term health conditions. It is important that anyone who is eligible gets the vaccination, it is the best protection against falling very unwell over the Christmas period.”
Anyone who is eligible is encouraged to come forward and get vaccinated ahead of the winter period when illnesses circulate. Eligible members of the public include:
- People aged 65 and over
- Unpaid carers
- Immunosuppressed people and their household contacts
- People with certain medical conditions like diabetes, chronic heart disease and COPD
- Frontline health and social care workers
The offer of a free COVID-19 vaccination will run out soon, so the public are being encouraged to book their appointments or attend a walk in clinic before 15 December.
