Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICB
(LAST UPDATE: 11/9/25)
The Community Gynaecology Service in Nottingham City and South Nottinghamshire ended on 3 August 2025 after the provider of the service, Primary Integrated Community Services (PICS) served notice on the contract.
This was not a decision taken by NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
We are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused and we have worked quickly on alternative arrangements for new and existing patients in the area requiring gynaecology services.
We have also started a review into community gynaecology services across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, so we can create equal and fair access to services for all our communities.
If you are a patient, please read the following Frequently Asked Questions. Please note, this advice will be updated at regular intervals, so please check back if you have any further questions.
You will be referred to an alternative appropriate Gynaecology service. We will be in contact to offer you a choice of clinical provider as soon as we can.
30 GP practices have signed up to provide this service in the future. You will be contacted soon with details of where you can receive this service.
Please continue to contact PICs until further notice.
A specialist gynaecology provider has been appointed to carry out a clinical review of each patient’s condition and treatment and where their ongoing care should be provided. If you need to be referred to a hospital for your ongoing care, you will be contacted with a choice of providers.
You will be contacted by our Referral Support Service to offer a choice of clinical provider for your first appointment. This may be a hospital or an independent provider. The Referral Support Service is working through a backlog of patients, so we are unable to confirm how quickly you will be contacted. We apologise if you have already been waiting a long time for your first appointment but we are prioritising patients who have been waiting the longest.
Patients waiting for a first appointment will be contacted soon by our Referral Support Service to offer a choice of clinical provider.
Patients requiring follow-up care are currently being reviewed by a specialist gynaecology service, who will advise on their ongoing care. Those patients who need insertion of pessaries and removal of cervical polyps will be able to receive ongoing care with one of the 30 GP practices who will offer this service.
Please continue to attend any other appointments you have as normal. This issue only affects those appointments with the PICS Community Gynaecology Service.
No, all referrals that have already been made will continue and you should continue to access any other services you have been referred into.
