High blood pressure often has no symptoms and early detection saves lives.

A pharmacist can measure your blood pressure to find out if you have hypertension, or high blood pressure.
Around 4.2 million people in England are thought to have high blood pressure. Many people are unaware as there are rarely any symptoms, but it is very easy to detect.
Who can use the Pharmacy Blood Pressure Check Service?
If you are aged 40 or over and living in England, you can have your blood pressure checked using this service. It just takes a few minutes, is free of charge, non-invasive and you do not need to book in advance.

What can I expect when I use the service?
The pharmacist, or member of the pharmacy team, will ask you to take a seat and wrap a blood pressure cuff around your upper arm. They will then measure your and blood pressure and tell you the result.
Depending on the result of the test, you may be given:
If you are registered with a GP surgery, your blood pressure reading will be added to your GP health record. It will not be shared with anyone unless your blood pressure is very high or very low and you require urgent medical assistance.
