Modality Partnership has been awarded the contract to continue the delivery of primary medical services for the patients of The Windmill Practice in Sneinton, Nottingham, from 1 June 2024.
The contract award means that there will be no significant changes to the primary medical services provided for the practice’s 11,000 patients and they can continue to access these services in the same way at the same location.
All eligible staff at the practice will have the opportunity to transfer to the new provider under TUPE arrangements.
NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire has been carrying out a rigorous procurement process to identify a new provider to continue the excellent work of the current contract holders at the practice after they gave notice that they no longer wished to continue. The notice period ends on 31 May 2024.
Positive step
Following the award of the contract to Modality Partnership, the current contract holders at The Windmill Practice described the change as “a positive step”.
Practice partners Dr Stephen Willott, Dr Helen Sperry, Dr Pax Nathan and Dr Dan Haycock said: “We are very pleased that a bigger GP group, which works with similar practices across the country, has agreed to support the practice. The current partners have been looking for a way to ensure continuity and quality of care for some time now, as the small partnership model is not working well in this type of practice.
“This is a positive step, as this means all of our staff have secure jobs, and experienced people running the practice in the background. For patients there should be no changes, as we will continue to provide primary medical services, with the same staff, from the same building.”
The new contract will be in place for ten years, with the option to extend for a further five years.
Modality Partnership
Modality Partnership operates primary health care and community services across the United Kingdom, providing GP services to over 470,000 patients.
A spokesperson for Modality Partnership said: “We are looking forward to working with the team at The Windmill Practice and maintaining the high standards of practice care. Modality are committed to NHS values and continue to grow, innovate and sustain services in General Practice and across the wider healthcare system.
“Modality aims to meet the growing needs and expectations of its patients; without losing continuity of care, and continues to work to find new, innovative solutions that will provide high quality, excellent care for all.”
Modality will be offering an opportunity for patients to meet senior employees and ask questions at events this summer (dates to be confirmed).
Victoria McGregor-Riley, Commissioning Delivery Director at NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICB said: “We are pleased to confirm Modality Partnership as the new provider of primary medical services at The Windmill Practice, from 1 June 2024.
“Modality has considerable experience of providing GP services across the country, and we are looking forward to them continuing the work of the current Windmill partners in delivering excellent services to patients in Sneinton.”
