It has been announced that Monday 19 September will be a Bank Holiday as the country comes together to mourn the loss of and pay their respects to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Please find information below about how you can access NHS services on Monday 19 September.
GP practice services will largely be closed on Monday. If you need medical advice, please contact NHS 111 through their online service. NHS 111 will be able to assess you and, if you should need it, book you an out of hours GP appointment or direct you to an appropriate service. NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year via 111.nhs.uk. If you had an appointment booked for Monday 19 September then your GP practice will contact you to rearrange this.
Pharmacists can help with common ailments should you need them. They are highly qualified health professionals who can give free, confidential advice and help you get the right medications for everyday illnesses. Some community pharmacies will be open on Monday 19 September . Please check the on the NHS website for your nearest pharmacy opening times. Community pharmacy opening hours on the weekends preceding the bank holiday Monday will be the same as for any normal weekend.
Please order any repeat prescriptions you require in time to ensure you have adequate provision over the bank holiday. GP practices usually require 48 hours’ notice to organise a repeat prescription.

Urgent treatment centres can help with many conditions such as strains, suspected broken bones, minor head injuries, as well as minor burns, rashes and emergency contraception. The Urgent Treatment Centre on London Road, Nottingham (open from 7am to 6:30pm) and the Urgent Treatment Centre at Newark Hospital (open from 9am to 9:30pm) can help with these.

The Covid-19 Vaccination Programme will seek to honour pre-booked appointments on Monday 19 September. If a site does decide to close due to very low numbers of booked appointments, all people booked in will be contacted to rearrange their appointment. If you plan on walking into a site on Monday, we advise booking an appointment or checking the opening times beforehand to save disappointment.
